Pull-up program: Week 3 and 4 update..and Phase II

I am one step closer to my dream of getting the pull-up, but before I get to that, here’s an update on how the pull-up program has been going.  I’ve finished cycle 3 and 4 of the program and we’ve decided to just skip cycle 5 and move down in bands.  Cycle 3 and 4 had good days and bad days. For more details, check out the table below.

The highlights:

  • I failed a lot more reps in cycle 3 then 4
  • The pull-ups were harder to do if I hadn’t done the metcon
  • And sleep, or rather the lack of it, really affects my performance.

Pull up program week 3 and 4

I’m really psyched to have finished the first phase of the program. It really helped to have set targets and a program to follow.

So now, we move on to Phase II. Which is very similar to phase I, except with only one purple band. THAT’S RIGHT KIDDIES, ONE BAND!!!! We are reducing the resitance by half.  So tomorrow, we start Phase II, with one purple band.  That meant that today we needed to test my max reps with one purple band in order to set the number of reps that I would start Phase II on.

In the past I have only been able to do one pull-up with a purple band but haven’t been able to string any together. Today I was able to string 3 together – that’s two more than before – so that is visible progress, I am closer than before!

So that is where we are starting at for Phase II with 3 reps.  The table below shows what Phase II will look like.

Am really looking forward to seeing how this goes and what progress can be made. Wish me luck!!

  1. […] So, I’m cautiously optimistic.  While I might not be ready to conquer the world next week, I will definitely be ready to continue my quest to conquer the pull-up. […]

  2. […] y’all for being a day late, but I was so excited about moving to just one band on my pull-up program that I forgot to update my goals for this […]
