Sunday Short-term Goal Setting

By now you have probably realized that I’m a little A.D.D. about trying new things. I really like to start things but sticking with them is a whole other story. (For example, my Creatine Experiment, the Hatch Program and the Sleep 30…all great ideas…that, for one reason or another, did not ever get completed.) In this case, it’s really not you..it’s me.  I’m a little, shall we say, goal flaky.  Sometimes I think my flakiness is charming (like my weird obsession with paranormal romance novels), but in the case of crossfit, not so much.

Part of the issue is that I like immediate results or successes. I am part of the “microwave generation” after all. (Definition: Describes young peoples’ fascination with instant gratification, cellphones, text messages and social media).  As such, it is really hard for me to stick with something that takes a long time to see any results.

So, to try to get a handle on my lack of being able to get a handle on things, I’m inventing Sunday Short-term Goal Setting. Which is for short term goals only!!! Each Sunday (when I’m being a good and dedicated blogger) I will post my goals for that week.  So here goes for this week:

  1. Go to Crossfit 4x this week (and don’t half*ss the metcons)
  2. Do my pull-up program 4x this week.
  3. Eat home cooked food at least 3x for lunch (i.e. no buying yummy cafeteria steak) and dinner this week (M-F). Honestly, lunch at our work cafeteria costs 20 dollars. This adds up over a month.  I could by a lot of BAMR bands for that. And they just released their new Christmas line so…..
  4. Try to get a least 4 hours of sleep a night (I’m an insomniac – this would be incredible).
  5. Do one 30 minute session on my treadmill at home, either walking or running just to get back into the habit…and justify the ludicrous amount of money that I spent on something I haven’t used since starting crossfit.
  6. Begin the development of my Crossfit spotify list…I want to make a Crossfit Spotify mix that is full of songs that inspire women to go harder during metcons.  While I am a fan of the gangster rap, 80s hair band, death metal mix that my gym has going on.  Every now and then I want to hear something that makes me feel like a bad*ss chick. All suggestions welcome.

    Man, girl, I am the same way about wanting instant gratification! Reduce my weight on the C&J to work on form? Who wants to do that? I want to lift heavy. NOW. MAX lifts. ALL THE TIME. 😉

    Not the ideal strategy.

    But my issue is I want to focus on it all… now. lol. Love the weekly goal idea! I read somewhere you should set goals for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months out. That way you are constantly striving for something but still have longer-term goals to focus on as well.
